JETHRO TULL's musical mason IAN ANDERSON reveals 'InTheStudio' the irony of THICK AS A BRICK on its 40th anniversary
Dallas, TX - April 4, 2012. North American syndicated rock radio show InTheStudio: The
Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands devotes two weeks to the music of Ian
Anderson and Jethro Tull, starting this week with unquestionably the most unlikely #1
selling album in music history, Jethro Tull's April 1972 epic Thick as a Brick. Composer/singer/flautist Ian Anderson tells show host Redbeard how Thick as a Brick was more of a spoof than a serious artistic statement.

"The saving grace of Thick as a Brick is that sense of humor stays sufficiently close to
the surface that you don't get pissed off at the album for being too arty, too clever, too
bombastic, or at least hopefully you don't if you moderately like Jethro Tull. That sense
of humor is always there."
Week two will reintroduce you to Thick as a Brick fictional lyricist Gerald Bostock some
40 years later to see what directions his life could have taken. All of this as Ian
describes Thick as a Brick 2 (aka TAAB 2) as being designed for the live stage,
something fans around the world will be able to see later this year as Jethro Tull will
perform both works in their entirety in each concert stop.
InTheStudio is syndicated on over 50 radio stations across North America. The Jethro
Tull Thick as a Brick/InTheStudio program will air the broadcast week of April 2nd.
Ian Anderson's Thick as a Brick 2 (aka TAAB 2)/InTheStudio program will air the
broadcast week of April 9th.
