Hi again,

I checked all the request questions and know the answer to
this one:

"I am looking for a song popular in the late 60's , I think
the title was "Shake" and I think it was by the Animals
but not sure. Was a great dance tune. Can you help?

To my fellow Tucsonan: the answer is "The Shadows of
Knight", and the song was released in fall 1968, reached
#46 on the Billboard Hot 100.

I stumbled upon this website tonight and am intrigued.

I first listened to AM radio in 1967 as a 12-year-old. Then
FM in '69. Saw John Fogerty onstage with Little Richard and
Jerry Lee Lewis at the Grammys just tonight. I;m no expert
but have "heard a few songs" over the years.

The last poster asked about "Ball & Chain"; the only
version I am familiar with is on the 1968 (Janis Joplin)
Big Brother & The Holding Company album "Cheap Thrills".

Hope that helps.

Kevin
Tucson, AZ - Monday, February 11, 2008 at 03:18:12 (EST)
Ashley..I found a song called "Ball and Chain" by Sublime
and, also, Social Distortion. There are a lot of other
listings for that song on Amazon.com. If neither of these
groups are what you are looking for, you might want to
check on Amazon.com. That may be more helpful to you.

Not for sure of the title. Know of it? Know where I can get a mp3 of it?

Henry..You are welcome. I'm glad I was able to help. I get
a lot of my music from Amazon.com. You may be able to find
a compilation of some of these songs there, but I'm not

set. Does that make sense? LOL Anyway, it was just a
thought.

I am very impressed by the knowledge some of you have
regarding the music of the era I grew up in. I just bought
an iPod and DL'ing tons of songs from the mid to late
50's, 60's, 70's and through the mid 80's.I kind of felt
music got lost with grunge, punk, rap and the alternative
scene, but have gotten a new awakening to some of it. I am
even enjoying the new country-pop tunes. So, you can teach
an old dog new tricks. LOL. Keep up the info parade. It
makes me realize I'm not as smart as i thought i was about
the music scene.

Bruce...Thank you for the correction. I wasn't really
saying that it was done by The Dave Clark Five first,
though. The Dave Clark Five version is my favorite and the
one I am most familiar with, which is why I mentioned it
first. I apologize, if it sounded like I was saying it was
recorded by The Dave Clark Five before Chris Kenner. That
was not my intention. I love the feedback, though! I try
not to give incorrect information, so if I am not sure, I
say nothing at all. If I do unintentionally give incorrect
information, I welcome the correction. It helps me learn.
Again, thank you for the feedback, Bruce. Have a nice day
and, by the way, Happy New Year to everyone! Hope it is
your best yet!

Sylvia, you got that backwards on "I Like It Like That,"
The song was by Chris Kenner, who wrote it, and had the
original hit version in 1961, and BY FAR the best version
of the song. It was also done by the Dave Clark 5, who had
a hit with it in 1965.

For the life of me I can never figure out why "Shakin' all

To whom it may concern:
Sorry but I accidently sent the message before I was
finished with the information. My question was about a
rock song in the mid-60's (most likely '65-'68) that had
the quote "My dear old mother told me". No one has been
able to help me with this. I am desperate! Thanks for
any help you can give. P.S. I am looking for the name of
the song and the male or male group. Thank you sincerely.

To whom it may concern:
I have listened to rock songs since I was 4 years old (I
had an older sister who was l3 and one who was 8 at the
time) so I really enjoyed the rock songs of the 50's,
60's, and 70's. There is one song I have been trying to
find out the name of since the 60's (I think '65-'68) and
the few things I could tell you about it is that it was a
male or male group but most importantly it had the phrase
in it "My dear old mother told me". It doesn't seem like
it should be too difficult to find (how many songs had
that same phrase) but no one has been able to help me as
of this date. Could you PLEASE help me with this? I would
be immensely thankful as I would love to have this song.

Thanks so much for your help in this desperate matter.

Who is singing "hold on tight to your dreams" for the Honda
Accord commercial seen on TV.? It may be some totally un-
known group or not even the same song, but it is very
interesting musically.

Everybody knows the way i feel and how my love still grows
for you, so baby when we dance oh wont you make romance and
make them think you love me to. Allthough the dance is

my charms, ohh ohh though you are just a stranger in my

Bruce, I just found this site this morning. OUTSTANDING!
I born in 1951, so the late 50's and and all the 60's were
my musical heyday. I read most of the posts on here and
came to the conclusion that some people know a little,
some a lot, and some nothing! LOL. I have a pretty
extensive library of mid-50's and 60's music. Keep up the
good work.

P.S. "All these things" by the Uniques, featured Joe
Stampley on vocals. They were from Springhill, La.

P.S.S. Some of the people asking about "Bella Amia Mine"
might be referring to "Cara Mia" by Jay and the Americans.
