Do you think Recovery deserves a bold, Pave? I haven't heard it yet, but the response seemed overall quite positive.

yes i do. the split between critics and his fan base seems strange, but i'm inclined to go with his fan base here. and i know its kind of a fallacy, but "everyone i know loves it". it just seems like his fans consider it among his best work, even if it didn't get the same critical response.

i didnt realize it got a shit-ton of grammy noms (cause i dont pay attention to the grammys) so maybe it got better critical acclaim than i realized.

favorite lines and verses from Recovery (not from best to worst, just in the order they are on the album)

'I went away I guess to open up some lanes
But there was no one who even knew I was going through growing pains
Hatred was flowing through my veins
On the verge of going insane
I almost made a song dissin Lil Wayne
It’s like I was jealous of him cause of the attention he was gettin’
I felt horrible about myself
He was spittin and I wasn’t
Anyone who was buzzin back then coulda got it
Almost went at Kanye too
God it feels like I’m goin’ psychotic
Thank god that I didn’t do it
I would of had my ass handed to me
And I knew it but proof wasn’t here to see me through it
I’m in the booth poppin another pill tryna talk myself into it
Are you stupid? You gon’ start dissin people for no reason?
Especially when you can’t even write a decent punchline even
You’re lying to yourself, you’re slowly dying, you’re denying
Your health is declining with your self esteem, you’re crying out for help"
- Talkin' 2 Myself

"I gave Bruce Wayne a Valium and said
settle ya f-ckin ass down I’m ready for combat-man
get it calm batman?"
- Won't Back Down (funny cause its just so fucking stupid)

"Man first of all, I’m a boss, I just wanna get that across."
- W.T.P. (best when heard with the beat of course)

"Pull a fifth of bacardi from outta my underwear
And walk around the party without a care, like a body without a head
Looking like a zombie from Night of the Living Dead
And tomorrow probably still be too high to get out of bed"
- W.T.P.

"Making it rain for the ladies in the mini’s
But I’m not throwing ones, five’s, ten’s or even twenty’s
I’m throwing quarters, nickels, dimes, pennys
Up at skinny’s, man I do this for them bunnys up at Denny’s"
- W.T.P.

"Homeboy, you better get a clue
She's on my dick cause I spit better than you
What you expect her to do?
How you expect her to act in the sack
When she's closing her eyes, fantasizing of digging her nails in my back to this track"
- Seduction

"She's sitting there getting liquored up at the bar
She says it's quicker to count the things that ain't wrong with you
Than to count the things that are
There's a seven disc CD changer in her car
And I'm in every single slot, and you're not, awww
I'm the logo on that Dallas Cowboys helmet, a star
And I'm not about to sit back and just keep rhyming one syllable, nah
Switch it up and watch them haters not give it up, cause they're just not good enough
But I'm not giving up til I get my respect, and I won't stop til I get enough
Cause I'm not living up to my own expectations, aww"
- Seduction (hilarious for the Drake rib)

"Man, get these whack cocksuckers off stage
Where the f-ck is Kanye when you need him?
Snatch the mic from ‘em, bitch I’mma let you finish in a minute
Yeah the rap is tight
But I’m tryna spit the greatest verse of all time
So you might want to go back to the lab tonight and um
Scribble out them rhymes you were going to spit
And start over from scratch and write new ones
But I’m afraid that it ain’t gonna make no difference
When I rip this stage and tear it in half tonight"
- No Love

"Til I’m toppling from the top I’m not going to stop
I’m standing on my Monopoly board
That means I’m on top of my game and it don’t stop
Til my hip don’t hop anymore
When you so good that you can’t say it
’cause it ain’t even cool for you to sound cocky anymore
People just get sick cause you spit
These fools can’t drool or dribble a drop anymore
And you can never break my stride
You never slow the momentum at any moment I’m about to blow
You’ll never take my pride
Killing the flow, slow venom and the opponent
Is getting no mercy, mark my words
Ain’t letting up, relentless
I smell blood, I don’t give a f-ck: keep giving them hell
Where was you when I fell and needed help up?
You get no love"
- No Love

"There’s a storm comin that the weatherman couldn’t predict
I’ve start to ball prick you better flea cuz I get ticked
it’s a rap, I was down, when I was down I was kicked
I got up, I’m back to punch ya to the ground ya trick
It’s a trap, fuck my last CD that shit’s in my trash
I’ll be God damned if another rapper gets in my ass
I hit the gas and I spit every rap as if it’s my last
You can die in a blink of an eye, so bat your eye lashes
So keep winkin and blowin kisses cuz ur flirtin with death
I’m destroyin ur livelihood, I ain’t just hurtin ur rep
I catch a flow and get goin,
No remorse, I’m showin they slowin, for no one, knowin there is nothing you can do about it
Zeroin’ in on my target like a marksman, the target is you
I’ll shut your lane down, took your spot, parked in at too
Arsenic flow, lighter fluid, saliva, what can you do
Go get ur crew to hype you up, stand behind you like “woooooooo”
That boy’s hot enough to melt hell, burn Satan too
Fry his ass and put his ashes back together with glue
See you can hate him, he don’t blame you, frankly he would too
This game could ill afford to lose him, how bout you?"
- Cinderella Man

"take your time baby, oh you’re the bomb baby,
oh you’re doing that even better than your mom, lady"
- So Bad

"I stuck my dick in this game like a rapist, they call me Slim Rothlesberger
I go beserker than a fed up post office worker
A murker with a mossberg, I’m pissed off, get murdered
Like someone took a ketchup squirter, squirted a frankfurter"
- Almost Famous

"when I come back like nut on your spine"
- Almost Famous

"Now get off my dick, dick’s too short of a word for my dick
Get off my antidisestablishmentarianism you prick!"
- Almost Famous

"He ain’t giving ‘em shit, he’s scissor pinch a penny so hard
He’ll leave a bruise on the bronze so dark
You can see the mark when it scars, til Abraham Lincoln is screaming out “AHHH!”"
- Almost Famous

"They can go get a belt or a neck tie, to hang themselves by
Like David Carradine, they can go fuck themselves and just die"
- Almost Famous

Do you like Love The Way You Lie, Pave? It's become so overplayed that it should really be a guilty pleasure for me, but it isn't, I really quite like it.

i love it. its probably the best song on the album artistically. i just couldn't find one specific line that i really loved to put in that post. its not my personal favorite on the album (probably top 6 or 7), but its still great.

its not overplayed for me cause i never listen to the radio or watch music videos.

I honestly can't comprehend why people like that song unless you're a fourteen year old teenage girl or their twenty two year old boyfriend.

It's like Wonderwall mixed with raps about domestic abuse. What's not to like?
