Well people, I am open to any and all suggestions you may have for albums I might like.

Genres I am currently exploring:

Done the essentials and I want more:
Jazz
K-Pop
Bossa Nova
60s Pop
House

Need to hear the essentials first:
J-Pop
Hip Hop
Synthpop
Ambient
Folk

If you have rec's from other genres you think I would like, go ahead and link me. You all know I'm into fairly saccharine, poppy sort of stuff. I'm also really interested in studio production so any albums that are interesting in that department. Any recommendations involving double kick pedal drumming, HSM/Glee style autotune (not T-Pain style autotune and vocoding, I love that shit), post Chris Cornell vocals, or Spelling will be treated with great skepticism.

as far as hip hop goes, you can't go wrong with illmatic, midnight marauders, enter the wu-tang (36 chambers). there's definitely a lot more stuff, but those strike me as albums almost everybody loves

edit: for the record you could've typed in "midnight marauders" into google and found out 10x quicker with less typing

You really need both The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders.

Here's a bunch of random songs I think you would like, based off "Digital Love" being your favorite song.
These are songs I've been repping hardcore in recent times.

Bag Raiders - Sunlight
Bag Raiders - So Demanding
Butterfly Bones - <3
Butterfly Bones - xoxo
Breakbot - Baby I'm Yours
Basement Jaxx - Romeo (this one's a classic you may have already heard, so sorry if I offend you by "reccomending" it)
Wallpaper - It's My Birthday
Wallpaper - I Got Soul I'm So Wasted

Thanks, for the Hip Hop rec's, I'll track them down and make sure you guys get shoutouts in my eventual reviews.

Thank you so much for all these songs! I'll give you my thoughts on each:

Bag Raiders - Sunlight

Fucking awesome. Exactly what I like, sweet and poppy but aggressive.

Bag Raiders - So Demanding

Again, awesome. Dat bass. How things so good can come out of Australia is something I will never understand.

Butterfly Bones - Heart
8
Sweet. Not as saccharine as Bag Raiders, but I loved all the synths on this one.

Butterfly Bones - xoxo
9
Loved the vocal melody and percussion.

Breakbot - Baby I'm Yours
9
Fantastic production, and his voice was cool in a Passion Pit kinda way.

Basement Jaxx - Romeo

I'm not offended because this song is well-known, I'm offended because it sucks and I have always hated it. sorry, it's not your fault.

Wallpaper - It's My Birthday
10
So sweet. Loved the horns.

Wallpaper - I'm so Wasted
8
I liked his voice better when it was distorted to hell, instead of just mildly. Still a great song.

I knew you'd love Sunlight. Why do you hate "Romeo" so much though? Seems kinda random

I hate Romeo because the vocals are really grating to me, and Basement Jaxx's notorious use of obnoxious synths just doesn't work IMO. I appreciate so much that you rec'd all those songs for me though! Definitely going to download that Bag Raiders album you posted.

The Bag Raiders album is in my top 5 of 2010 so far. Every song is good, and the majority of them are awesome.
Basement Jaxx just go nuts all the time, so all their songs are completely love or hate

Miami Horror is another pretty good disco group from Australia. they're not as good as Cut Copy or Bag Raiders but it's more of that sugary stuff you'd like.

Damn, they're tight. Any other rec's for booty-poppin' hidden gems involving sweet, sweet basslines? I can always count on you for those.
