Nice and relaxing voice to listen. Nothing in her singing bothered me. Didn't move me in any ways, though. 6/10.

I'd really like to link a Finnish rock band CMX. I'd be curious to see how you would evaluate the singer's voice... but can't decide which song would demonstrate it best. So I'll skip my turn for now.

I'll give that a 9/10... Great vocals and melancholy (even creepy) atmosphere. Barely noticed the lack of instrumentation throughout.

Now this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjxRPq6eQBo

I give it a 10/10 because it's from the sickest John Woo movie and she's a sexy asian lady.

...Oh and here's my performance:

Great voice, and great danceable song! Still, I think he didn't show all that he had, he could have done better vocals because he sounds like he has skills for them, imo. Still, good! 8/10

Next one I could imagine Curiosity liking for some reason: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRIE-txyA3w

Kaistale, I've never actually heard of CMX before. Post something from 'em!

Lefty - indeed. I think the song is much easier to appreciate when heard in context.

Timitzii: I've heard it many times before, but I LOVE that song! Beautiful voice and melody... great instrumentation... really spellbinding atmosphere.

Anyways, continuing with the Asian theme, my next entry:

This guy has a great voice imo. Incredibly deep and resonant.

That guy does have a great voice and I'm sorry I can't understand because it seems like a great song which I would appreciate even more if I knew the words.
8.5/10

Now this is a song which you'd all probably rate as 0/10 as a song because it's a cheesy ballad from a boy band, but the guy who sings first (Brad Pitt lookalike) has a cool tone but God damn the white shirt blond guy has an amazing voice, listen to his belts in the choruses and 4:20 is amazing!

Wanted: Wow. Beautiful voice! Do I have to start to listen some boy band now?

Curiosity: Okay, here. CMX's songs are more about lyrics than melodies so they are probably quite monotone for someone who doesn't understand Finnish. The band's been around for 25 years and their music has changed a lot (from punk to rock to progressive to I-don't-know-what). These songs are pretty old, from 1994-1998. Two slow and one a bit more rock.

Ruoste (translates as Rust or Corrosion. A very metaphorical song about losing or leaving something behind.)

Ei Yksikään (No One... or Not One? Not sure. I really don't know how to explain what this is about! Not a very happy song, anyway.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxXQTAW7 ... re=related

Talviunia (Winter Dreams - not so much about winter or dreams though, rather than losing the one you love to someone else.)

I'm sorry I couldn't understand the lyrics, but the singers is pretty emotional and sad, he suits the atmosphere of the songs pretty nicely. The melodies are quite relaxing and soothing! The ballads were great!

That's nice to hear, Wanted! Would you (or anybody of you guys with better knowledge than me) care to evaluate his voice a bit for me? I have a sort of ambivalent relationship with his voice  so it'd be interesting to get a neutral and more professional view.

Well, those were only 3 songs, neither required insane amount of technical skill nor had some complicated phrasing, so I can't say how technical he is. His main strength seems to be his naturally melancholic tone which helps him create that kind of atmosphere in his songs.
Hope that means something!

Kaistale - I'm just about to listen to those links now.

It's just some stuff about a famous Chinese emperor, Han Wudi. The singer is absolutely awesome. His operatic belts are insane, and considering he has a really low voice, his high range is impressive.

Oh fuck, Blue... They were hugely popular here in the UK a few years ago. But you're right, that guy is a fucking great singer.

Ok, listened. Pretty good stuff I must say. I'll agree with Wanted that there's no indication of him being a technical singer from these links, but he has a great warm, deep timbre with alot of resonance and weight to his voice. It lends alot of character to the songs.

Kurt Cobain is hard to judge, IMO. I mean, technically? :nono: But all the other aspects? :tiphat:

I'm probably agreeing with you both about his technicality. He's having pitch problems pretty often live and he tends to stay in his comfort zone. Pity how nice voice and ablity to use it don't always go hand in hand. But I love his tone and their songs are great, so usually I just ignore the flaws.

Thanks for your input!
