Anyway, just popped in to say, heard a Tower of Power song on Pandora the other day and MY WORD is that Prestia creative. I was blown away. He's a bass genius. I'm glad he has the spot he has here :-)

Verdine's pretty durn creative too (EWF song on my Pandora right now haha). Funk definitely has produced more great bassists per capita than any other rock genre. So good

Okay, back to business.

possible contenders for the 31-40 range out of names currently on the list (at least the people I think are contenders):

- Chen
- Palladino
- Wetton
- Lake
- Rutherford
- Verdine
- King
- Watt
- Odum
- Porter
- Gordon
- Glover
- Baker
- Alderete
- Pinnick
- Weeks
- Myung
- Kaye

I SAY we go with...

- Wetton
- Lake
- Rutherford
- Kaye
- King
- Watt
- Odum
- Porter

..and maybe Chen, and maybe Pino. If not Pino, we give the last spot to Myung, Weeks, or Glover.

Time for some comparisons!

I'm inclined to say Wetton is ahead of Lake and Rutherford. I'm also inclined to say Lake is the lowest of those three, though I really have no idea in that case.

If I'm right, Porter might end up at the top of this bunch. He's apparently revered and very important but I know jack about him.

As for the last spot, I think Pino probably beats Glover, and PROBABLY beats Weeks. I'm also inclined to say he deserves to be above Myung.

Don't really care for their music that much (80's style, ugh!) but Mark King is a fine bassist.

I love King. He's the perfect combination of poppy and funky.

Yeah, from what I'm seeing on wiki and shit, I'm thinking he has to be top 40. What do you think?

Pretty impressed so far. He might make the 'honorable mentions' list I'm planning on adding on after we finish the main list. And I respect anyone who listens to Budgie

Breadfan fuck yes

EDIT: Damn this Budgie impresses me. They're ridiculously ahead of their time for what '73? This sounds like mid 80s thrash, no wonder Metallica covered it.
