Robben should try being less greedy and pass the ball, instead of taking shots from ridiculous angles.

My thoughts exactly. That's often the problem with international teams with so many individual talents: too many egos. On paper the Netherlands should have stormed that.

It was poor finishing and not great defending in the end from the Dutch that cost them, they created more than the Germans did but Gomez took his one chance whilst Van Persie/Robben fluffed theirs.

To tell you the truth I'm more scared of Ireland than Spain. They already beat us last year in qualifying did well against us in the past when we had Lippi. Trapattoni has an excellent knowledge of Italian football and is superior to Prandelli in many ways. I'm not saying they are a better team than Spain, but they are more well suited to beat us because Trap knows our strengths and weaknesses like the back of his hand.

That being said this is going to be a difficult game for us. Then we have a solid Croatia team, followed by Ireland who know our weaknesses. It's going to be tough, I hope Balotelli steps it up.

*edit* Reports are saying that Giaccherini will play as a left wing back and De Rossi as a center back in a 3-5-2. That's a pretty risky idea for an opening match of a tournament. I think Spain will win now.

Pirlo's still got it. An absolute pleasure watching him and Iniesta today. Best game of the tournament so far.

That was an excellent game indeed. Very tactically interesting. I cannot believe Balotelli waited so long to kick the ball on that 1 on 1
