Would any of you guys be interested in doing a "DDD's Essential Mix" kind of series? Basically each participating user would create a playlist and then post a download link for it in the thread. Except instead of a 'normal' playlist you would have to go into audacity (or whatever program you want to use) and make your playlist one long track. This way it removes any bias or pretension when it comes to listening to the music so you might enjoy things you normally wouldn't, plus it would provide some cool opportunities to play around with crossfading music or cutting out intros/outros or seamlessly segueing them into another track. After a week (which I figure would give people opportune time to download and listen to it) you post the track listing. The only limits to the mix would it has to be under 80 minutes in case people want to burn it a CD-R or something. Any takers?

This sounds like an awesome awesome idea but I have no means of editing my songs together in the way you describe. I'd need help getting on that but I might be willing to give this a try if that panned out.

Audacity is free and it honestly isn't that complicated to merge a couple songs into one track. Or hell you can even do it on iTUNES. Burn your playlist to a CD and then rip the CD back onto your computer using the "merge tracks" option.

Audacity is free? Well shit. And I do know how it works, I've tinkered with it in a computers class that I took?

Edit- What the fuck is that question mark lol.

I'd be up for it though I'm not sure about the mixing bit.

This actually looks like it would be tons of fun. If someone actually does this I might put them on to listen to at work. But then again, we already have the last.fm thread, which is similar, I guess this just removes any potential preconceived notions, right?

I disagree because on Last.fm you can still see the artists + songs names.

So I don't have internet where I've been living lately except for on my phone (on which I'm writing this) so I made a mix in my free time. It's pretty much done save for adjusting the volumes of some of the songs and a few other minor things. When I have internet next at a coffee shop or bookstore or something I can upload it; most likely this weekend. It's 76 minutes long and a little choppy in a couple places but it turned out better than I expected.

I'm gonna give this a go - is Audacity the best program to use?

It's the cheapest (free) and easiest to learn (very)
