I really dont think Taylor is top 30, myself. Probably top 40 though. I just cant see any huge amount of influence or originality or innovation.

Glad you mentioned Nicko, I wondered before if he could make top 30 here.

I don't agree on Taylor's originality, not sure about innovation though anyway he's a very unique and distinctive drummer.

I really don't think he's THAT unique. I love his playing, especially on things like "Dead On Time", but it takes more than just being distinct to get a spot in the top 30.

Well, he did such more great things on drum aside of Dead on Time, anyway I think he scores really good according to criteria...he's an underrated drummer and musician imo.

I don't disagree, but that alone doesn't make him top 30.

So does anyone object to Junkie's 21-25?

21. Garibaldi
22. Mitchell
23. Powell
24. Dunbar
25. Shrieve

I don't know nearly enough about these five (except Mitchell) but I question Shrieve being below Powell and Dunbar. Other than that (and I'm sure there's a reason he's below them right now), perfect. I'm glad this list is going the right route and having dudes like this populate 20-25.

Put Dunbar ahead of Powell and we're good to go. Will update

Then prepare to have your mind blown...

Best hi-hat use I've ever heard, bar none.

He's just one of the grooviest guys ever:

I love his instructional videos, he has tons of good advice for how to groove and how to move around the set. Also garibaldi is one of the best with the hi hat, just ever.

Yeah, dare I say that he even challenges Vinnie in the grooving department? Obviously not in overall skill, but Garibaldi's just a rhythmic monster.

I just want everyone to know I've been really busy lately, I'm taking some grad courses over the summer and trying to finish them in time for my trip to Japan and China in June (I'll be in Asia the whole month and some of July), so I've been pretty busy. Once I'm done, I promise I'll be as active as before and we can get these lists going even quicker. I still come on and read of course so you guys are welcome to debate, but I won't be on as much for these following (and last two) weeks.

But I'm the only one around here who posts regularly...

Anyway I think that's awesome that you're going to Asia...

Guys, I think Gavin Harrison is way too low. 50? I mean come on, he's currently one of the best on the planet.

His skill borders on otherworldly, and I gather he's pretty versatile as well, but imo he lacks in influence, innovation and originality.
