I think Hüsker Dü are definitely worth considering. They helped sow the seeds for alternative rock and punk-pop, and their musical impact is quite substantial.

I will be adding Wynonie Harris, Roy Brown, and Whitney Houston to the 101-183 part of the list, and dropping 3 artists from that same part of the list. The reason why I'm only dropping artists from that part of the list is that for now I don't want to change anything on the part of the list that Chris F. did. I'll do that later, and when I do, I'll probably add the artists that I'm dropping now. It appears to me that Sonic Youth should be one of the artists to be dropped, and I'm leaning toward Boston and Peter Gabriel being the other two. But of course all are welcome to make a case for dropping a different artist from that part of the list.

Another artist worth considering for a top 300 spot, if for musical and critical acclaim only, is Brian Eno... He was influencial within art rock too, obviously on Bowie...

De La Soul should be significantly closer to the top 100. imo they're musical impact and influence is more comparable to Joy Division and The Yardbirds, who are about 80 spots higher.

Maybe is time to add Lady Gaga.

If there's one artist I thought would've been significantly higher its the Stooges. I guess they don't do very well in popularity of cultural impact though.

Ah, that's true. I keep forgetting that musical impact is based how other artists reacted to the music around the time it was released.

I'd put Oasis and Coldplay.

Coldplay is down at the tail end of the list, and I think I saw Oasis in the 200-210 range.
