lol at your Artillery rating. You just plain don't get thrash.

I don't think it's ever been a secret that I'm not a fan of thrash metal...but I do like some thrash albums like Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion, No More Color, Bonded by Blood, Demon Entrails, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, Arise, and Nothingface.

EDIT - By all means if you have some thrash you think I would enjoy (I'm a fan of every genre around thrash, metalcore, crust punk, death metal, etc) I'll definitely check it out but it never really has clicked me outside of a few albums, and even then I only really like them, not love them.

Master of Puppets, while a great album, barely qualifies as thrash. True there are some thrash songs, but all in all it's toned down, scaled back and more of a traditional metal album than anything else. Is that why it became as big as it did? Sure. When I posted that "Master of Puppets: the album that killed heavy metal" review did I want people to agree with every letter? No. But Sanitarium being "a cheesy ballad masquerading as thrash" and Orion being "progressive space-filler" and Damage Inc. really being rather middle tier when it comes to thrash are all very much accurate.

Really, the only albums I would consider thrash of what you listed are Bonded By Blood, Ride The Lightning, No More Color and Arise.

The Celtic Frost and Hellhammer albums are black metal IMO.

How would Master of Puppets not qualify as thrash?

Also, calling Celtic Frost black metal shows a lack of knowledge of what black metal is. Would you call Venom and Mercyful Fate black metal?

a) Just listed my reasons above.

b) Not calling Celtic Frost black metal shows a lack of knowledge of not only black metal but its roots. Venom? I personally think they are thrash, but there are many others who would say they were black metal, not just because of the name of the album, but because of their lyrical themes and abrasiveness. Mercyful Fate no. I always considered them a Judas Priest with nonstop Satanic lyrics.

If Celtic Frost is black metal then Led Zeppelin is metal.

Basically. Celtic Frost are very influential to black metal, but they are from black metal themselves.

If Celtic Frost is thrash and they're so influential, why do they never get their segments on all the thrash retrospectives?

Venom are first wave BM though hardly BM by today's standards, Mercyful Fate were more influential from an aethetics point of view than from their actual sound.
At any rate Venom was more thrash than they were black.

Celtic Frost are a bizarre combination of black metal and thrash metal.

Just because they write "evil" lyrics doesn't really make them black metal.

No, Led Zeppelin is Heavy Metal. And what does one band have to do with the other?
