on a related note, cisse's (newcastle) 2nd goal against chelsea is some black magic voodoo shit. what a fucking shot.

It really was a fantastic goal, it is up there with Peter Crouch's effort for goal of the season. I was watching the game on my laptop, and thought the shot was going over the bar, i turned away for a second and was surprised to see all the Newcastle fans celebrating, couldn't believe the swerve on the shot, Cech stood no chance. Alan Pardew has done a fine job at Newcastle and deserves the Manager of the Year award, he has done so well considering none of the Newcastle fans wanted him when they first announced him as there manager.

His first goal was top draw too! Pretty rare to see a player overshadow himself in the same game.

The fact soccer doesn't yet have goal line technology is a disgrace. Despite what the commentator's say, that may well have been a goal. There's cm's in it and to go by the human eye of someone 35 metres away in this day and age is ridiculous. At the very least there should be a camera on the inside of the post so that it can be reviewed properly.

 I do like Liverpool traditionally (principally because they are from the north-west, successful and yet not Manchester United) but Dalglish is forging a side that is very, very hard to like. And he's a dreadful whinger. Bring back Rafa

I had a choice between watching a screening of Pather Panchali with friends or the FA cup final & arsenal's draw...Pather won out. So, is it worth looking for the replays?

I thought the FA Cup final was pretty dire except for John Terry making Andy Carroll look like Romario, and apparently John Ruddy made some amazing saves for Norwich against Arsenal. So..your call I guess.

Agree with this totally, decisions like this are so important in this day and age as it can cause teams to lose millions of pounds, although i don't think the whole of the ball crossed the whole of the line today, definitive prove needs to be in place, other sports like Cricket and Rugby have them so why not Football. I know the argument for not having Technology is that it will slow the game down, but surely it is better to have the correct decisions. In reality it only takes up to 30 seconds for the replays to say what the decision should be, one way or the other. I'm not into having technology for every decision but surely it is a must for whether the ball is over the line as managers jobs and crucial relegation and championship destination can be decided on weather a ball is over the line. If Fifa doesn't want Technology to slow down the game then surely a system like in Tennis were you can have so many calls in a set could be put in place in Football were each team could have 3 referrals per match.

On a totally different agenda just heard Messi has scored 4 goals in Barcelona's latest win to take his goal tally to 72 for the season, i know Barcelona and Madrid are way above the rest in Spain and probably Europe but that is staggering the guy really is a genius, hard to believe he could score that many goals in one season and yet if Barcelona lose the cup final they will of won nothing this season.

It's bascially the greastest individual season in the sport's history. I think right now, I'm happy to cement him in the top three greatest ever - he just needs that bit of international success to get him ahead of Pele and Maradona.

Messi cant do it under pressure ? Is what Ive been hearing, hence his lack of international success. Also, of course, the messi cant perform without Xavi and iniesta part.

Ronaldo's the one that can't do it on the big stage (usually). Messi has stepped up in many a big champions league games, el classico' etc.

The lack of dominance at international level is a more legitimate criticism but I don't think it's 100% fair. If Messi has one dominant world cup there'll be nothing left for the doubters to cling to and you'd have to say he has at least another couple of good chances.

Watched the game at Star City Casino last night, just getting home now. So happy about the win. Liverpool were rubbish until Carrol came on the pitch. He had a great game and caused Chelsea all sorts of problems. The goal that was disallowed was give or take, really. Either decision that was made could be disputed, which is why I'm quite against technology entering the decision making process for the referees. They do a pretty damn good job a lot of the time and it would only be a matter of time before they're reviewing offsides, handballs and fouls, which are rarely clear cut even after 100 replays.

I think Chelsea needed that trophy going into the CL final. Having some silverware under your belt is a nice little backup before such a huge game. The CL Final is probably one of the most important games in their recent history.
