Yeah, I'd like to see them again some time, especially Vampyr. It really doesn't feel like it works or wants to work on the wavelength of a normal horror film, but on my first time through I didn't really tap into precisely what wavelength it is functioning on. Loved a lot of the images, though - all the shadows, the dream sequence which concludes with Allan Gray looking out of his own coffin. Lot of great stuff. I almost wish it was even more freeform and gave less pretense to following any sort of plot.

Yesterday I watched the first five hours or so of Satantango and today I finished it up. Absolutely staggering film. Perfect 10/10 (and for comparison, the only other films I'd give that rating are The Tree of Life, Stalker, and maybe There Will Be Blood). Completely blew me away. I could write so much about it, but I think for now I'd like to let my thoughts simmer, so I'll simply say: I love the episode that follows the little girl and the cat. It's gruesome and at times really, really hard to watch, but it's also incredibly beautiful.

Especially because of the way it gets contextualized and recontextualized by the scenes where you see her outside the house with the dancing.

The Cabin In The Woods - fun at times but not a very good film

I vastly prefer Vampyr (my favourite Dreyer), although overall I'm a bigger Murnau fan than Dreyer fan. Didn't like Day Of Wrath. Boring as fuck. And Michael is a very good movie, but I was expecting so much more, having heard so many people rave about it.

1. Sunrise
2. Vampyr
3. La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc
4. The Last Laugh
5. City Girl
6. Nosferatu
7. Gertrud
8. Master of the House
9. Tabu
10. Michael
11. Faust
12. The Finances of the Grand Duke
13. The Haunted Castle
14. Day of Wrath

Can't get Satantango out of my head. What an amazing film experience that movie is.

I watched The Sacrifice last night and I think I just don't get it. I thought I was on Tarkovsky's wavelength or something because I love all his other films but that one just threw me for a loop.

Game Change - I enjoyed it. Not sure how much of it is true and how much embellished but it is very well done and pretty harrowing.

The Avengers was awesome, i'd say it's by far the best of the Iron Man/Captain America/Hulk/Thor movies. Joss Wheadon did an incredible job.

Ugetsu

I don't know what words to paste over this movie beyond that it was gorgeous and tragic and I love it.
