I always like doing top 5's more than 10's or 15's...much easier.

1. Ginger Baker
2. Neil Peart
3. Carl Palmer
4. Ian Paice
5. Keith Moon

This is subject to change, as I'm currently checking out more guys like Bruford, Carey, etc.
I'm a former drummer myself.

Yeah I had a little 8-piece set for $300 a while back. I learned to play a lot of stuff by ear,. via my HUGE collection of music. In almost no time I was playing along with Zeppelin, Audioslave, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Metallica, and so many more!
The brand was called Pulse, I think, sounded pretty good but nothing special. Cant expect nothing fancy for a mere 300 bucks I guess.

I found using the sticks with rubber grip was much more comfortable and actually made it a little easier for me.

Yeah, he was great! His Woodstock performance with Santana was particularly brilliant. One of my favorite solos ever.
