He's insanely musically talented, like Bruford an artist on drums, the dynamics are very impressive in that solo, it's based almost strictly on positioning and accents, he knows just where to hit and when. That's Baker though

That's why he's my favorite of all time.

His beats just can't be touched. Impeccable sense of rhythm and flow.

Now CRJ, I believe it's your turn to post a vid.
Let's hear something great from Colauita, Gadd, et al, I need to explore those guys more.

Oh, and Ariel, you asked about some post-Cream stuff from Baker?

This is just as incredible as anything he did with Cream....

7/10...pretty cool drumming. Nothing mind-blowing, but he's very talented and has great sense of 'placement' with his double-bass.
Annoying vocals though...
Glad you liked the Ginger performance. Not hard to see why he's my favorite.

Now, for my next link, Peart is on fire here! Imo even better than 'O Baterista.

I've posted these in the skill thread recently, I've really been getting into this guy's style lately:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvBRTHxsXCw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kf3CKqE5 ... re=related (watch the whole thing, it's very impressive, maybe more than the first)

watch him play with his hands in the second video O_O

Get some Weckl in here:

staying in the themes of groovin': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3WzxgeqKNY

Weckl with Corea, his cymbal speed is absurd for the ride pattern: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEysTJJT ... re=related

From the Buddy Rich Memorial Concert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILonx3Lg ... re=related

This is cool since Gadd uses 4 sticks for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDefyvUi6OI. Here's the actual song:

Super cool Gadd: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=181-cW9F ... re=related

More just Gadd: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyqxjfM9JWI

Gadd's famous for his original grooves that almost everyone knows so the main videos of them are now instructional videos but they're there

If you want songs they play on? They all do so much, that really I'd say go find live videos for those 3.

Watched the first two so far, Greb is awesome! I actually thought the first vid was more impressive though. Definitely a fantastic groover, great control.

Checking the rest of them shortly.

I thought the hand playing was pretty cool though, he clearly knows how to play the bongos as well, he knows all the hand movements and positions

Okay, Weckl is a f.cking monster. That first clip of him was just devastating. That is probably the most flawlessly smooth playing I've ever heard from anyone.
W*O*W*!

Gadd, on the other hand, isn't quite as ridiculously skilled, but he has so much feel. Yes the grooving is phenomenal too, but honestly I think Weckl's grooves were just as good, judging from these clips anyway.

Anyway, this was all great shit! Definitely gonna be checking out more from all of these guys, especially Weckl.

A bit more weckl, some astonishing feel towards the middle / end of this piece:

Here's Vinnie at the baked potato too while we're at it:

and yeah i'd give both those Greb videos an 8 or 9

edit: put up the wrong vinnie video at first

As I said Colaiuta and Weckl are in a league of their own, the next is Gadd and Cobham, many say Weckl is the most flawless player there ever was and will be, that may be true but my drum teachers complaint is he's far to predicatable  On the other hand Gadd is known as the best groover because groove is all about feel and I know very few drummers with as much feel as Gadd

some more Weckl, found this through your other link, this is kinda sick too, love the cowbell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUzyxqOA ... re=related

I don't think anyone's posted a video that I'd even think of giving a 10, then again I don't know if there is a 10 in my book, nothing's perfect, but Weckl can come close

Yeah that was sensational too. Everything I've heard from him so far has just totally floored me.

Now, here is some absolute INSANITY from Ian Paice...

The control he has over his snare rolls is just ridiculous...
And listen as it approaches the 7:00 mark.... :freak:

as I said before he has some of the most dynamic and precise rolls in rock, he has so much technical skill it's frightening, heavily underrated in that category. Not sure if he makes top 100 but he is very skilled. His single pedal footwork is also absurd. Very good vid there Neg. Love your enthusiasm in this forum, you have the newest post in like every thread XD. But seriously, I'm sad how small the members of this site are now, glad to see people like you keeping it alive and fun. Glad people like Echoes haven't been derailing threads for a long time now, I feel like the few of us left really care about the music, it's refreshing
