+ the fact that Led zeppelin IV and songs from the other albums too, were often used by Rap groups

I think this album could use a huge move up. Probably there are people who think they have already enough albums rated high, but you can't deny that some of their albums do score high in all criteria.

I don't.

Led Zeppelin's fourth album has little influence to speak of. The influence belongs to Led Zeppelin's prior albums. They didn't do anything on their fourth album that they hadn't done before. Plus, look at the album right ahead of it. The Who's Tommy. That's an album with actual influence as well as enormous musical impact. Tommy's big wins in musical impact and influence more than make up for the popularity difference. Led Zeppelin's fourth album is just a very popular album by a very popular band.

That last point sounds like a personal taste argument. They're ahead of almost every album of '69 and '71 anyway. Blue is probably a little high.

yeah probably personal, but it adds how a band is able to capture their sound in studio anyway.

any chance that Close To The Edge - Yes could make this list ?
or Hair of the dog - Nazareth

In The Court Of The Crimson King (1969) - King Crimson has a rather low position ?

I don't think either should make the list. HotD isn't even on the '70s albums list, and I agree with that too. I don't see what it has going for it besides popularity, and it doesn't even have all that much of that.

I edit the '90s albums list, on which Bizarre Ride is #187, so there are a number of '90s albums that I think come closer to belonging on this liost that that one. To speak only of '90s hip hop albums, Aquemini by Outkast and The Slim Shady LP by Eminem are 2 of the most worthy that didn't make it. I don't think either of them is essential though.

Couldn't Astral Weeks be in the Top 50???
And also add The Bends?

And I know this is gonna get shot down immediately, but could My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy get some consideration? If it couldn't make the Top 200, which I'm suspecting it won't, would it make it say in the Top 250? 300? 400? 500?

My case for MBDTF

Critical Acclaim
Allmusic.com gave it 4 stars out of 5
Entertainment Weekly gave it an A
The New York Times gave it "favorable"
Pitchfork Media gave it a 10/10
Rolling Stone Magazine gave it 5 stars out of 5
Slant Magazine gave it 5 stars out of 5
Spin gave it a 9/10
On metacritic.com, the album received an average score of 94 out of 100
Rolling Stone named it "The best album of 2010."

Popularity
Has sold 1.2 units in the United States (don't know about world-wide)
"Power" peaked at #22 on Billboard (was named 40th best song of 2010 by RS)
"Runaway" peaked at #12 on Billboard (was named best song of 2010 by RS)
"Monster" peaked at #18 on Billboard (was named the 10th best song of 2010 by RS)
"All of the Lights" peaked at #18 on Billboard

The album was released in November of 2010, so the influence/impact isn't that large, but I think as time goes on, this album will be considered a classic. You might hate Kanye, but this album deserves consideration.
