Greatest jazz/fusion drum performances

Oy.

I don't know if ANYONE on this subforum knows enough jazz/fusion to even list out 100 great performances...lol...while I love fusion (and some jazz) I sure as hell don't!

forget a damn list. Just name some good jazz/fusion drum performances. would help a lot of newbies(myself included) hopefully get to listen to and appreciate the stuff

thats why I created this topic, because everyone talks about the great fusion drummers and stuff, so they can post their really outstanding performances,

It's much harder in jazz to name single song fantastic performances than just watching or hearing them play, unlike rock jazz is much more about the groove of the music and due to that playing styles very significantly to fit the song, so it's much harder to have a 'finest performance' where the drummer pulls out all their stuff. Certain songs require more technicality but in general drum solos in jazz are quite common so just look around. I'll post some videos.

Cobham probably blows my mind more than any other drummer of any genre.

Awakening is just....sick.

There are quite a few performances that I enjoy quite a bit I'm not sure how great they are or where they would place... anything off Awakening / The Inner Mounting Flame for instance... particularly meeting of the spirits for Cobham... Got a Match is probably one of Weckl's best known performances...

I also really liked the drumming on Bitches Brew but I'm not familiar enough with Miles Davis to say that's his best album for drumming.

Just listened to my spectrum album again, forgot how great the drumming was !

Narada Michael Walden from Jeff Beck's group had some truly killer stuff on 'Wired'.

Bitches Brew is undeniably one of his best, but on In a Silent Way Tony Williams is just oh my god. The Inner Mounting Flame, although their first, is probably my favorite Mahavishnu Orchestra album for drumming. I didn't post anything for Weckl or Colaiuta since just search their name and you'll be blown away. They are the 2 best drummers in terms of skill no reason you won't find mad videos for them.

I think every drummer has seen that video at some point or another, it honestly seems quite subpar for Vinnie though imo, I've always liked watching some of his stuff from the Baked Potato best, he's had some insane licks and grooves there but on that video I thought he was the weakest of the 3. Still great though obviously.
