So, Shades of Blue and Beat Konducta in India are both awesome. What other Madlib albums are similarly awesome?(Or Quasimoto or Yesterdays New Quintet or whatever)

Vol 5:Dil Cosby is probably the best beat konducta. I've heard really good things about Shades of Blue, I still have to check that one out. Also dunno what you've heard but 1983 by flying lotus is probably one of my favorite instrumental hip hop albums. It has a really cool feel to it. I've heard his other albums are even better but i've yet to hear them.

I meant more along the lines of Madlib solo albums; I've heard Madvillainy.

Chicken, I'll prolly look into that stuff. Thx.

Nope, I haven't. I don't know if you've been following the thread, but I'm pretty much a hip hop noob. I probably haven't heard lots of the stuff y'all consider essential.

What should I listen to from A Tribe Called Quest?
I LOVE this era of rap, but I've never really delved into their stuff.

oh okay, well in that case I'd recommend listening to "Cosmogramma" which imo is more essential than any Madlib solo album.
i would say it is a hip hop album, maybe a jazz album actually, but flying lotus is probably thought of more highly in electronic circles

i've been playing Cosmogramma lately and it really is a great album, much better than 1983.
