From an Australian perspective Forrest looked very good. Will have to be given a go in test cricket soon.

Looks like Watson is going to be pushed down to 6, which means the competition for middle order selection in the test team is going to be pretty fierce. Even though they both hit form against India, I'm guessing Ponting and Hussey will be under pretty much constant pressure from now on. One bad series could be enough to see them dropped going forward.

Forrest has a solid style of batting, a good technique and seems like he would have a good temperament for test cricket.

Afridi has become a very good limited overs bowler. Very dangerous. Always been one of my favourite players.

Just saw that he's still only 31! Made his debut at 16. Feels like he's been around forever and he's probably got another 5 years or so left.

Cook's been surprisingly good in one day cricket since being made captain.

Off the top of my head.

Favourite ODI:

M.Waugh
Gilchrist
Tendulkar
De Villiers
Symonds
Bevan
Afridi
Warne
Akram
Malinga
Bond

Test:

Sehwag
Langer
Ponting
Tendulkar
Lara
Border
Gilchrist
Carl Hooper
Warne
Gillespie
Ambrose

Definitely lacking another fast bowler but I couldn't leave Carl Hooper out of it.

I thought for sure Viv Richards would make one of your lists.

Well I don't really remember seeing him play...his last test match (in 1991) was a couple of months before my 5th birthday so pretty hard to make a favourites list. He'd make my best historical world XI for one day cricket for sure, but it's based on what I've read and heard and seen after the fact.

I don't really remember Border that well either to be honest so probably shouldn't have him in my favourite test team. I just like his attitude and I probably like him more for what I've heard/read than what I saw myself. My earliest memory's of the Australian cricket team include him in it but I can't really remember any specific innings.

Viv would be in both of mine, but its too hard for me to pick one side for each as ive seen so many good players and era's. i can basically recollect ODI's since the inception of world series cricket from 1977
picking favourite fast bowlers is ridiculously hard for example. the only players id definitely pick would be Viv both sides, gilchrist both sides, lillee both sides, tendulkar both sides, warne in the test and bevan in the odi sides, the rest is too hard...

Matthews lost that for them. Malinga bowled brilliantly in the final overs, though.
