Yes you could argue it was a gateway to the mainstream but that alone doesn't help, especially if a lot of the ugly qualities of thrash had to be sacrificed.
I respect it enough to put it at 10. But no higher.
and FYI, Ride The Lightning is my favorite Metallica album, but I put it lower than Kill because Kill was kind of the first pure thrash album.
That link is absolutely laughable. All I read was some guy giving his personal OPINION on why Master Of Puppets "killed metal".
