It took me a while, but the Hammerklavier sonata really is jaw dropping.

Brian,

Great work you're doing putting together these lists.

One of my favorites is Chopin's Nocturne Op.48 No. 2. So emotional and delicate. ( of course it's Chopin for chrissakes  ) Chopin is the Gilmour or Santana of classical piano. He pours so much emotion and pathos into his compostions.....love it.

Not familiar with any of Lenny Breau's stuff...any intros ?

Ever since my daughter starting playing Chopin works, I've discoverd that his compositions hit me just as Gilmour's or Santana's emotive solos. I'm curious if this Breau cat's stuff can do the same for me.

Any intros would be appreciated.

Below is a superb rendition of the Nocturne. op.48 No.2 of which I referenced above performed by the Hungarian Lívia Rév. She should have achieved much more international fame. Chopin would approve of her delicate and emotive touch and her compatriot Franz Liszt would be proud.

i shall make a thread in the guitar forum
(can't guarantee anything... lenny's different from santana and gilmour in that he was more of an impressionistic painter than a narrative storyteller)

I like that..."impressionistic painter than a narrative storyteller"

I'm game, I'm not only into "melody lines"

I love it all, if it's a good quality and it rocks my boat. Thanks

What do ya think of Livia's touch on that Chopin piece? Reminds me of Gilmour's subtlty.
