AC/DC's frontman?

Angus Young

I distinctly remember making this argument on the old forum, and Sherick and Mint disagreed with me. I still dont buy that "only singers are frontman" argument.

I still say Angus was just as much a frontman as Scott/Johnson, and Townshend just as much as Daltrey.

No doubt about that. And hey, you could even say that about Deep Purple. I mean, which member had a more magnetic stage presence, Gillan/Coverdale or Blackmore?

I disagree. Young is the main figure of AC/DC, not the frontman. Bon Scott and Brian Johnson have always been considered the frontmen of AC/DC, and I do too. Young is definitely the most famous character of AC/DC but that doesn't make him a frontman.

Only vocalists are frontmen to me (excluding something like Steve Vai's solo career, though Devin Townsend was briefly the frontman of his band).

Wrong.
There is no "main figure", really. It was Bon and Angus TOGETHER (and Malcolm, to an extent) that made the band so great. Young was always in more command of the stage, and always more up front and active than Bon and Brian combined, actually.

Yes, but that wasn't my point. Like me, MintCondition and Sherick have always said, frontman is the vocalist. Even Angus Young himself has called Johnson and Scott frontmen of AC/DC.

Damn I really didnt want to argue this again...
Personally I dont think 'singer' and 'frontman' should be so synonymous. I think the title of 'frontman' belongs to whoever is more UP FRONT, more commanding, and more 'in charge' of the band. Angus is all of those things.

You're taking the term 'frontman' too literally.

Should Simmons or Stanley have the position on this list for KISS? Or should they split it? Also, where are Sam Moore and Dave Prater? They could probably share a spot.

Simmons and Stanley should be listed together, and an easy top 20.

All Elvis did was wiggle his hips live--not even worth putting on this list.

Freddie Mercury? Easy #1 or #2! :)
