Is Painkiller really top 20 material? I question that...

Painkiller was the Priest song that connected with the thrash generation and cemented their status as Gods.

Though if push comes to shove, I would rather have Am I Evil in the top 20 than it.

All I know is that Painkiller is fuckin amazing. The energy of the song, the vocals and the guitar solos. Awesome shit!!!!!!!!!

Priest connected with the thrash generation LONG before Painkiller.
Damn, Slayer even covered Dissident Aggressor for cryin' out loud. Dave Mustaine, Lars Ulrich, Scott Ian and who knows how many others, have all expressed their affection for early Priest.

And "cemented their status as gods"? If anything, I think Stained Class/Hell Bent, etc., certainly did that much earlier.

But I'd also go with Am I Evil.

I meant the thrash generation of fans. The type of people who would think that Deep Purple, Zeppelin and Sabbath were too "light" for them.

I agree with the relative ballpark of where it is, but something like a "Top 20" status should be awarded to Am I Evil

Nah, I meant Am I Evil should be top 20 instead of Painkiller. Not just because Metallica covered it, but because it's a legitimate metal masterpiece that's also pretty original for it's time.

The only way I'll approve Seek & Destroy in the top 20 is if it replaces One.

One shouldn't even be higher than Fade To Black.

Yea but that's about it. Fade To Black def has more impact and influence. Plus One became popular for kind of the wrong reason, in that they gained the MTV audience that had never heard of the band before.
