Seriously though, how good is Mark Tremonti? Some of his stuff in Alter Bridge is pretty badass.

Technically he's impressive and by that I mean he's much better than a band like Creed deserved, but I find his lead work pretty banal. Killer rhythm player, though.

This thread should probably be pinned in favor of others that don't even have any posts in them.

So am I the first to notice that Venom's "Welcome To Hell" is the same guitar riff as "2 Minutes To Midnight"?
Probably not, but whatever...

Nope. Mercyful Fate's Curse of the Pharaohs has a somewhat similar thing going as well. I think Accept had a similar sounding riff as well, but I can't remember the song.

There's a website with clips of suspiciously similar riffs. I'm not sure what it was called or if it even still exists, but you can probably find a bunch on Youtube.

I don't find that at all surprising.

I've heard it recently (whole album fuckin blew me away). Yeah it's much slower but it's definitely the same riff.

Actually, Dio's "Stand Up And Shout" riff is pretty similar as well...

I doubt I'd call it metal, but the riff to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath sounds almost identical to the riff for Hocus Pocus by Focus.

Note that Hocus Pocus came out over a year before Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
