Man, I've been blown away by some of the leading neo soul artists lately. D'Angelo and Erykah Badu in particular.

Not really neo soul there. You need to check out the names Gray mentioned - those are the big neo soul hitters.

I dunno Georgi. Isn't Maxwell normally considered to be neo soul? At least I've seen Urban Hang Suite described in that way. But a big no to Rihanna.

Anyhow, Baduizm is wonderful. All that jazz flavor makes it such an interesting listen.

So I'm on youtube watching music videos and before I can click through the ad I see a name I recognize. Apparently this college friend of mine (though not that good of one, I haven't seen her since she graduated) is now signed to RCA and making music videos. So I play it:

Huh. I remember her being a great singer. I don't remember her ever being quite that hot though.

oh hellll yeah. Good call on D'angelo too, of course. Check out the Badu album "Mama's Gun." It is so fucking good. Specifically recommended tracks: "Green Eyes" "Didn't Cha Know" "Orange Moon" "Penitentiary Philosophy"

what have you heard from D'angelo?
