What a piece of junk. All that money, for nothing. This is not what I had expected.

Bad times man. What were you going for and what was the actual result?

How long did you guys have to play guitar before you thought, "Hey, I'm pretty good at guitar"? I've been playing lazily but consistently for like 5 years and I feel like I still fucking suck.

I've been playing pretty diligently for a year and I like to think I'm pretty good. But this will just depend on the person.

A couple of years of daily, or at least near-daily, practice. I still have days where I think I suck though.

Basically, I think that "good" is in the eye of the beholder. When people ask me whether I'm a good guitarist or not I usually just say that other people tell me I'm good. I tend to not to consider myself as being that good (or bad, really) since the aspects that I can perform well don't really impress me, and I tend to focus on what I do poorly.

Hey, sorry for my late reply. I just got really annoyed and stopped playing for several weeks. Haven't plugged it in yet, but I'm gonna keep trying and see if I can get used to it. The 4th position doesn't sound good at all, and I will have to talk to Ruokangas about what I can do about it. The others aren't bad, I just haven't gotten used to the sounds yet. Hotter than what I normally use.

I took some family photos earlier tonight:

I just had the absolute best lesson of my approximate year and three months of playing guitar.

Well, the piece I learned is called Farruca, its flamenco(My instuctor is really into spanish guitar). The Farucca is awesome. Not only is it incredibly fun to play, I got to watch him play the rest of it that he didn't get to walk me through. It was a flurry of so many crazy chords and seeing it all happen in front of me made me giddy. I swear the guy can play anything. Part two is probably far beyond my reach, but I can definitely handle what I've been given. One of the best experiences I've ever had with the instrument.

Is this what you're talking about? Because if so, I would be greatly impressed.

No... I understand that there are lots of variations of the piece. That's not what I was taught.

Not trying to one-up you or anything, but I remember one time I asked my teacher what the most difficult piece he could play was and said it was Koyunbaba. He then played it perfectly for me. It was awesome.
