^ one of the reasons why yamatsuka/yamantaka eye is one of the greatest minds in music today. His knowledge and talent spans across so many different breadths of music. here he picks up obscure garage tracks from the 60's and uses his jockeying skills to mix them up seamlessly into a 60+ minute mix that feels like an electronic mix; the tracks all flow and ebb into one another. but the music within is strictly garage. there were only 20 copies pressed, all of them hand painted by eYe. it's brilliant, give it a shot.

african garage pop/rock from mozambique, congo, angola and south africa. self explanatory funky garage. awesome.

wait, are you looking for strictly uk garage or is jungle etc ok too?

I'm thinking UK garage - wouldn't mind a decent selection of the more popular stuff as well (I'm thinking of people like the Artful Dodger - there's songs I'll remember without knowing the names/artists). Jungle sounds cool too!

I've already got myself Nuggets, monga sir, and it's a damn fine compilation.

I can see what you mean about the english hip hop thing, but there's a bit r'n'b influence in there too I think, and a lot of it is just straight up dance music as well. Then again, I'm no expert, which is why I'm interested in getting a compilation.

Uk pirate radio at the turn of the century must have been so exciting.

I had to download it off What. Several tracks in, and I'm loving it - it's a great mix and pretty much exactly what I'm after. Some of the bass drops are phat as fuck. I'll probably download something from the Pure Garage series to cover the more mainstream stuff.

Just coming to the end of it, it really is a perfect compilation.

Four Tet is god. I'm halfway through right now, and this mix started off with some tribal sounding electronic leading into some funky ass disco.
