I love Hetfield, but to me Mustaine is the lord of thrash riffs. After Iommi, I really think he's the best in metal...

Everyone knows Holy Wars and such, so I'll start things off with this face-melter...

Yes, Dave is the Iommi of thrash metal. He's simply the greatest. At his age he is still making awesome shit.

I remember when The System Has Failed came out, I was expecting it to be pure garbage.
But I loved Blackmail The Universe, and then when I heard that riff to Kick The Chair, it was like....FUCK he's still got it!

His rhythm guitar 'crunch' is among the best in metal too.

Been watching some Megadeth videos, and damn, this guy is on Hetfield's level as far as pure, badass riffery is concerned.

Not hatin on Hetfield, but Dave is a level above James, IMO.

In terms of pure execution, I'd say Hetfield has the edge, but I do listen to quite a bit more Megadeth than Metallica, so I guess I wouldn't outright disagree to someone saying Mustaine makes better riffs.

Now see guys, I've been saying this for quite some time. It's not like Mustaine blows him away or anything, they're very much neck-in-neck. I just think Mustaine has better riffs overall, and probably more crunch in his rhythm guitar too.

This is probably my favorite Megadeth tune:

Alright, I lied. THIS is my favorite Megadeth tune: Really. I forgot about this hidden gem from Hidden Treasures

Hey guys new to the site and love it so far. Being a huge Megadeth fan myself this one caught my eye immediately. What's everybody's favorite Mustaine riffs?
My favorites:
Holy Wars
Killing is my Business
Rust in Peace...Polaris
Good Mourning Black Friday
Tornado of Souls
Set the World Afire
My Last Words
Poison was the Cure
There really isn't a bad riff by that man. He is an absolute machine
