Been listening to Shostakovich's 14th Symphony recently, bleak and rather depressing but very beautiful.

I've been listening to lots of Tchaikovsky this weekend. Especially loving Symphony #6, the Violin Concerto, and The Nutcracker.

Ellington's interpretation of (parts of) The Nutcracker is also interesting. Not amazing, but there are times where the jazz tone works quite well.

Holy shit yes! That movie may have had a weak third act but that sequence was incredible and that piece of music was absolutely incredible.

pleasantly surprised it's a guitar version... not to upstage that clip... but, for my money, the most beautiful performance of this piece ever is a duet by ida presti and alexandre lagoya...
