I just recently rented the innervisons album from my libray and it's great. I never thought I'd find myself listening to Stevie Wonder but after reading your guys' comments and about this album I had to check it out. On the first listen I was thinking the only song I didnt really like was "living for the city" and now it's my favorite song heh. I love how he switches to those gritty vocals at the end of the song.

I never really understood all the praise for Living In the City. I must just be me. However that is an excellent album. And welcome to the forum!

Thanks! I've been around for awhile though, even in the old school days before the forum was completely changed. I just rarely ever post, obviously heh. I really didn't like "living for the city" at all on the first couple of listens but I guess it just grew on me.

Damn! I've actually only been around for about six months. I guess that's what I get for not actually checking the date that you joined. Regardless, Innvervisions is a fantastic album. However, I still think Songs in the Key of Life is his crown jewel.

Living for the City is glorious.

Don't give up on it!

Anyway, in other news, I've decided that I like Marvin Gaye slightly more than Stevie. Went back and forth on that for months. Easily two of the best 10-20 to ever take up music, regardless.

"Living in the City" is one of his best tracks IMO.

So Innervisions absolutely kicked my ass today. Not so sure that Songs in the Key of Life is better anymore. And I warmed up to Living for the City a little bit.

I think it might be just that I'm not huge on synths. I much prefer the more natural sounding tracks on Innervisions. Ironic that Songs has been my favorite Wonder album and I say that. Not at all the reason for my lukewarm response, but that sound clip of the guy getting sent to jail is totally unnecessary and the worst part of the song.
