Pretty much spot on with the bold-ing . American Psycho and Equilibrium are personal favourites.

spot on... i was going to say you could be a bit more liberal with the regular bolds, but idk which those would be.

my only question is why 3:10 over Prestige? im just curious. not that i necessarily disagree, as they got pretty equal acclaim. just curious what the deciding factor was.

Well it was kinda one or the other with those films, and with 3:10 he had a more central role and I mean come on, Christian Bale, doing a wester? Poff...Turns out damn good.
Honestly, I think the way he plays Dan Evans as so stoic yet vulnerable and seemingly conflicted but with a stunningly rigid moral compass really gets to the meat of Bale's artistry as an actor. Not that The Prestige wasn't a complex beneath-the-surface performance of course.

Little Women...not one of my favorite movies, but he got praised somewhat for it, and it was seen as his comeback after years of mediocre parts and put him back in the spotlight.

He also got a lot of acclaim for his role in Harsh Times, and I still stand by his performance in Shaft.

Also, I love this quote from his bio on IMDB. I don't care whether or not it's true, it's awesome.
Christian Bale wrote:
I was up in Toronto and went to see that movie Life Is Beautiful. By myself. And when I came out, I had a craving for blood unlike anything I had ever experienced since I decided to go vegetarian at the age of 7. It was a compulsion. It was undeniable. I went to several restaurants, one right after the other, and got the biggest, bloodiest steaks I could get my hands on. It was the first time I had tasted flesh in almost twenty years.

It's how he phrased it that cracks me up. Patrick Bateman indeed. When I was reading it I kept hearing him say "I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy" as Bateman in my head.

Performance-wise, Equilibrium doesn't stack up to Rescue Dawn or The Presitge.

On a side note, we now have a name for Batman 3.
