Yeah, that's why i'm doing the old tournament rules and probably not going to 256 videos.

As Quinnsy pointed out, its because they're both divisible by 8, 4 and 2, which is why they're used by most tournaments (the rounds and matches divide nicely)

128 (elimination round 1)
64 (elimination round 2)
32 (elimination round 3)
16 (sweet 16)
8 (elite 8/quarter finals)
4 (final 4/semi finals)
2 (finals)

256 is the next number in the sequence and twice the amount of 128, so the tournament might go to that number just in case there's more demand.

smaller is better, ryan. more options just means more time between songs that people care about.
