The Killing is pretty good, reminds me a lot of Twin Peaks.

DDD's Favorite Films (this according to who I've added as a friend or favorite on RYM)

1. Stalker
2. Taxi Driver
3. 2001: A Space Odyssey
4. Spirited Away
5. The Big Lebowski
6. The Godfather
7. The Shawshank Redemption
8. Ikiru
9. There Will Be Blood
10. Apocalypse Now
11. Aguirre the Wrath of God
12. Fargo
13. Pulp Fiction
14. Annie Hall
15. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
16. Blade Runner
17. A Clockwork Orange
18. No Country For Old Men
19. American Beauty
20 The Godfather: Part II

Nobody I'm friends/favorites with gives Stalker less than 4 1/2 stars. Interesting that Ikiru is by far our most loved Kurosawa. (Seven Samurai and Ran are in the top 30).

Stalker is amazing, of course, but I would seriously never have expected it to be No 1.

Make a movie custom chart, set it to all-time, and "as rated by my friends".

I would. It's the most accessible film by DDD's most promoted filmmaker. According to my RYM none of my 11 friends/favorites who have watched it give it less than 4 1/2 stars, and most give it 5.

I'm watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos. Scientific new ageism. I approve.

They're rebooting that for a miniseries to run on Fox during primetime hours in 2013. Neil DeGrasse Tyson is set to host, and it has the approval & aid of Sagan's widow Ann Druyan. Should be amazing.

And it'll be produced by Seth MacFarlane

Based on watching the first fifteen minutes of the first episode, MTV's Awkward is horseshit.
