Definitely. And I've heard that Downes will be returning for the upcoming album. That should be interesting, like you said he's a great player.

I definitely hope that's true. What I've heard from their recent live shows, Oliver Wakeman really has no chemistry with the band.

Downes is a great choice.

I agree. I saw them a few years ago and he had the chops, but there was something VERY lacking. Like he played all of the notes, but they were just notes and nothing more. No passion, no energy.

"Heart of the Sunrise" is their best of their long songs, even if it is one of the shorter ones by comparison.

And jesus I wish the title song from Close to the Edge was just the first 12:10 minutes. That synth/organ part really puts a damper on me. Just too damn much.

And I know I've linked this a year or two ago (jeesh, that long already) but I have always loved this live performance footage.

Jon Anderson takes some vocal flights in that first half, and I think they're all spot on. And that massive bass thud at 3:26/3:27 moment. Gaaah. Just shakes the stadium.

I had forgotten, but The Remembering (High the Memory) from Tales is fantastic. The melodies are actually really captivating, and Rick's keyboard breaks are beautifully textured - not just flurries of tinkly notes like he sometimes does. Even at 20 minutes it's not a draining listen.

I've always thought the fourth movement was the best part of the piece

Yeah, the organ part is my favorite and I would like the song a lot less if it wasn't there.

I was thinking of seeing Yes at Red Rocks this summer but and the opening band was Styx.

I've been loving And You and I lately. Maybe my favorite Yes song at this point.

I love every second of every song on Close to the Edge.

My desert island album easily.

Shame the band isn't together anymore.

Just a stunning album. The intro to And You and I is marvelous.

So the new album is out eh?

Is it the massive disappointment I think it is?

I swear the group Yes had for Fragile and Close to the Edge is the most talented ensemble ever seen in rock.

in terms of instrumental prowess, perhaps, there are some others close enough, but thats about as talented a bunch of musicians as one can get
