Are Flea and Robert Trujillo really more skilled than Chris Squire and Les Claypool? Really?

Skill wise I would rate the aforementioned players in order; Claypool, Flea, Squire and Trujillo. In fact I don't think Trujillo is especially highly skilled.

Well some of the 80s Metallica stuff is pretty darn tough. Plus he's done a lot of slap with Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves if I'm right.

Still Entwistle deserves credit for being leagues beyond the other players of his generation, by the end of his life, in tech skill. I'd put him ahead of Lee and he's like the only 60s-era bassist who ever got that good.

Actually back in the 60's and early 70's Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge) was a lot more skilled than Entwistle. I'd say purely from a skill aspect he was the most skilled of his era. Bogert quite touring by the mid 70's as he got sick of the grind. Billy Sheehan sites him as his primary influence.

I meant that by the end of his life Entwistle was more skilled than any of his 60s/70s contemporaries ever got, and was on a higher tier with Lee and stuff.

Give a listen to Fudge's Renaissance album along with Beck Bogert and Appice.

Tal Wilkenfeld is very good but she no longer is with Jeff Beck. Beck last toured with another Female bassist. He seems to have a fetish for girl bassists.
