Beggs is also on Steven Wilson's "Grace for Drowning" and a few of Steve Hackett's newer albums if you want other stuff with him.

Neg that was fantastic, what's the dude's name?

That's Pete Agnew. Not a huge amount of skill, but his SOUND is just so awesome. Really thick and 'plodding'.

I'm sure you're aware of 'Love Hurts' and such, but this band was so much more than that.

I always loved the bassline on "Love Hurts." When I first noticed it I was certain they had hired a Motown bassist or something, since it has that Jamerson-like feel.

Their entire body of work is quite good. Dan McCafferty was one of Axl Rose's main influences.

I hear you bud, I am absolutely in love with their first eight albums.

Check this shit out, Pete goes pretty wild especially at the end...

Surprised you dont know Love Hurts, at least. Or 'Hair Of The Dog'. Huge radio hits...

But anyway, on to something else...what do you think of the bass here? Especially at the end...

Mind posting a link to Love Hurts and that other one you mentioned? (Yes I'm that lazy, lol...exhausting day)

I'll get to the Purple after.

Cheers

Their two biggest hits (here in America anyway). Never really was in love with either one of them. Every 'classic rock' fanatic knows them though.

They have much better stuff, even from that same album.

Time to go clean my ears out with soap.

But yeah, Pete's got a KILLER tone and feel. I'm impressed by some of that stuff you posted earlier.

Glover has better work. "Pictures of Home", the bridge leading into Lord's solo on "Fireball", etc. His work on Deep Purple's early stuff where they all got to show off is awesome.

That's actually not Glover, it's the original bassist Nick Simper.
I know it's nothing technically amazing, but the lines are just so cool and fit the dark mood of the song perfectly.

As for Glover though, he was awesome. Who can forget his relentless thumping in the middle of Child In Time...
And fuck, you HAVE GOT to hear his monster distorted bass on No One Came....fuckin priceless.

I didn't realize it was a Rickenbacker with distortion leading into Lord's solo on "Fireball" until I saw a video. That was one of my "holy shit" moments with his playing.
