On the contrary, I love GTBT. Very good bass and drum performance. And yes, Ramble On has quite a good bass performance as well. My Generation was hugely influential when it came out, even if you do not find it that impressive. But I also agree that The Real Me is much more impressive. But my fave Entwistle performance is his live 5:15 bass solo at the Royal Albert Hall:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVl39LBZGMw
Wait a minute. You think the Bass and Drums In GTBT is very good but I was responding to this quote by you.
"I still do not like the bass for Good Times Bad Times."
The solo on 5:15 is very unique but on the whole I believe bass solos are an extremely small part of rating a bass player. 95% of the time bass players do not solo. Entwistle was a great improviser yet, after listening to several versions of it, there is not much in the way of improvisation in 5:15. Entwistle's skills and genius are better shown in his ability to improvise and groove within the song. I am much more impressed by "The Real Me" which, by all accounts, was improvised on the spot. Truly amazing.
