Revisiting Pokemon Red for nostalgia.

Still early in the game and I have a Kakuna. Is it worth it to go through the slog of throwing this asshole into battles and get him to 10 to be a Beedrill or should I just hold out until I can throw some rare candies at him?

don't waste rare candy on a Kakuna.

Yeah, I usually just whip him out in battles, you don't really have to use him obviously, just swap him out every battle to get those experience points, it takes a hell of a long time but your patience will be rewarded.

I decided to just go to my last save and catch a fucking Weedle with that Pokeball instead because then you can use Poison Sting during the Kakuna stage.

Haha, dreww, i downloaded red yesterday as well and jsut spent a while playing it. I have beedrill (lvl 11 or 12) and squirtle at 13 already, adn that took me maybe a couple dozen quick battles. But I captured kakuna's centipede younger form and had the poison sting attack on him into kakuna form, so I could fight with him still too against little weaklings. Much quicker that way

Wow--throw a moon stone at your Jigglypuff to make it a Wigglytuff and get it to a level as low as thirteen and teach it Mega Punch--you're set for awhile. Incredible HP in the high 60s already and I'm knocking most stuff out with one punch. Now I know remember why I used it so much last time around.

I bought a copy of Pokemon Gold I bought like a year ago during a Nostalgia phase to replace copies of Silver and Crystal that were stolen from me years ago.

In my Gold, which I haven't played in a while (but its my second time through the game), I know I have my standard killer Slowbro which I raise from a Slowpoke from the well.

And apparently, there's an issue with the time batteries in Gold and Silver - after about a decade, they start falling heavily off from real time and won't save anymore and you have to open up the cartridge to put a new one in. I haven't had to do it yet though.

Just trade it out a lot until it evolves into a level 21 Weepinbell. Then find yourself a leaf stone and evolve that fucker into Victreebel.
