Why video games can never succeed as art

You dismiss games purely on the basis of them being western in origin or taking western influence.

I like a lot of games made by western companies, granted they tend to be older console games.

I think western console gaming has been very credible, until Unreal Tournament and God of War fucked it up and now every other western console game is copying those formulas.

David Jaffe used to have some credibility, with the Twisted Metal games and Mickey Mania, but God of War completely demolished it.

I do like the GTA games, I actually think that's a gameplay formula that should be imitated more, just without the gangster themes.

Its not the same, though. This is an actual battle. The other times were people just getting mad at boo boo for being boo boo. This time, he has met his match. Actually, now that i have written this, i think im going to let it continue. Sort of a bad sequel. WHO. WILL. BACK. DOWN??!

I wrote this for a final project for a lit class I took last semester on different narrative forms and man's relationship with technology. It's a 10-page paper on Mother 3 and how it uses the player's immersion and reactions to in-game events to drive its story.

What a shame that so many FF games since are talky-cinematic driven affairs that don't take advantage of the fact that they're video games.

FF6 had two remakes? I'm aware of Advance, but what was the second?
