I believe Lendl had more of an influence on modern tennis playing (the "power" baseline game). He's also got some pretty formidable achievements as well. I don't really know much about Mac's doubles record, or how doubles records are weighted on the list, but on singles careers alone, I'd put Lendl ahead.

McEnroe has 9 doubles grand slams titles and the second highest number of doubles title overall of all time. I believe.

Who's first? Newcombe? Woodbridge? Someone else? I bet they're Australian. Bryan brothers might have something to say about it though.

Your man Todd Woodbridge is first, Mint. And you flag up the Bryans - they've bumped Johnny Mac down to #4

1. T.Woodbridge - 83
2. M.Bryan - 75
3. B.Bryan - 73
4. J.McEnroe - 70

no one really cares about doubles these days, counting doubles margaret court won something like 72 slams . not surprising to see that list full of aussies though, they all loved playing doubles back in that golden era and made 20 davis cup finals in a row or something ridiculous

It just proves that while people from other countries are all about individual glory and selfish ambitions, Australians place more importance on teamwork and sharing great experiences and achievements with mates.

Newk is an absolute legend. I like him as a commentator as well.

Yep, John Eales captain of the world cup winning rugby side from 1999 and all round champion human being...one of 22 players, all good friends and exemplary Australians who despite not being the best team on paper beat all they played. Not through flashy, selfish play...but through excellent teamwork. There would have been some great doubles pairings that could have been made from that team...unlike the England rugby team that won in 2003, which relied on one player.
