So last round I didn't make my picks here but I would have gotten every series wrong but the Rangers series. With that in mind I'd like Rangers vs. Coyotes but suspect we will get Rangers vs. Kings.

I really hope it gets to be Rangers vs Kings because the camera man will get physically tired keeping up with all the celebrities he has to cut to every minute.

If anybody is interested, Russia just won the World Championship. Beat Slovakia in the finals 6:2, with Semin and Ovechkin doing most of the work. Chara had two goals as well. Slovakia's road to the finals was the biggest surprise, as they beat Canada in the quarterfinal. Ruined the final a bit though, since Slovakia didn't have much weapons against a very strong Russian side with Ovi, Malkin, Dacjuk...

Czechs got bronze. They surprisingly beat a very powerful Sweden team in the quarterfinal, with Zetteberg, Franzen, Karlsson, Alffredson, Kronwall on their lineup. I think this was one of the best Swedish teams in recent World Championships.

So, both Czechoslovak countries got some jewelry, by beating a more powerful opponent in the quarterfinals

Malkin was named MVP. He was just unreal most of the tournament. He got 19 points in 10 games.

Overall, a pretty good tournament, except maybe for the lack of intrigue in the final. My native Latvia got a couple of good games in the beginning as well, losing respectably 2:5 to Russia and narrowly losing to Czech Republic. Unfortunately, our team completely fell apart during and after losing to Norway 0:3. We failed to score in the last three games and finished at 10th.

Oh, and there was a touching moment in the end when Slovakia got handed the silver medals. Chara put on Demitra's Slovak jersey. We sure would have done better with some rock defense by Skrastins as well...

Very deserving hall of fame inductions. Sakic was obviously a lock in his first year. Bure and Oates both finally get in (both quite deserving) and Sundin gets in. You can make a case for Shanahan over Sundin but I think Sundin was the better two way player and so deserved the straight up induction. Shanahan will get in next year.

Wow Minnesota gets both Suter and Parise. Once Dany Heatley's contract expires this team is going to be gorgeous. Finally some competition in the Canucks division.

Edmonton, Colorado and Calgary all got a lot better, too. All we did was overpay for Garrison.

Both these guys have said they hoped to play together someday, and they like the young talent on this organisation.

Ugh. Fucking league.

Considering the profits they've been making it's going to be really stupid to close up shop now.
