nick foles?

That was a solid pickup for when Vick gets hurt.

He also may have not played the Wildcat, but he did play as a Wildcat. The one thing Reid knows how to do is mold a quarterback.

i'm glad he made it so far. he went to my high school's biggest rival in austin (he went to westlake--which produced drew brees). when he was a senior i went to the varsity game between our schools. they also had ryan swope who did really well at texas a&m. westlake was a huge favorite as they were state ranked and my school had never actually beaten them, which doesn't make for much a rivalry--it was more a rich person pride thing, but nevertheless it was tense leading up to the game. they also had a player who almost died a couple games before because his heart stopped, so it was emotional for them. we had one of our better teams with emory blake (now auburn's #1 receiver [in freshman football i tackled him a few times and blocked his punt in practice]) who was our big star. we led them most of the game but they went from 24-10 down to tying it with less than a minute left in the fourth. foles had a huge fourth quarter and looked unstoppable. but then emory blake caught a 70 yard game winning touchdown with a few seconds left on a long fly down the sideline. everyone went crazy and stormed the field. then of course we lost in the first round of the playoffs and they ended up losing to southlake carroll, who was ranked number one in the country at the time, in the texas 5A championship in a competitive game and foles played really well then too.

anyways, that's my memory of nick foles. he was really impressive, and i rooted for him to do well in college. it's really crazy he's now michael vick's backup. it's weird and a little surreal these people who are around my age who i knew or watched play in high school are doing amazing things like that. i'm just doing linguistics homework. now i know how batman feels about kevin love.

Wow, really? I missed that one.

He could be the best punter in the history of the universe and that would still be a horrible pick.

edit: And I'm happy with the Lion's draft picks. Nothing mind blowing, but it looks they didn't do anything stupid. It looks like they went in wanting to shore up weak areas with position guys and stuck with the game plan. Off the top of my head, not a rock star prima donna among the group (I'm looking at you Matt Millen).

A top flight O-lineman, followed by defensive guys (focusing on the secondary), pretty much exactly what I would have done (well, I could have done without the Broyles WR pick, but oh well). I think Titus Young will develop into a good 2nd WR aside opposite CJ, so I'm not too worried.

So...were they afraid someone else was going to take him?

I guess. I mean they were a terrible punting team last year but that guy was definitely still going to be there later. It's picks like this that make me think I could be an NFL GM.

Just switched to Seattle/Tennessee on the NFL network. Are the Seahawks uniforms new or did they have them last year as well? They look fucking terrible. John, can you weigh in?

What is the with the Pacific NW and hot green/yellow on football uniforms?

They're new. Nike is making all the uniforms now so they're all a little different; some, like the Seahawks, moreso than others (although I prefer these ones to the trash they've had the last few years).
