So happy for Andy, he really deserves it. You'd have to think, winning an Olympic Gold in those kind of conditions will help him finally get over the line in a grand slam.

In his on-court post-match interview, he said Lendl told him he'd never face as much pressure as in that Wimbledon final, and he didn't feel very nervous coming into this Olympics final. I think he might've finally conquered his nerves. If he can get over the hump of winning his first slam, I wouldn't be surprised to see him rack up a few more in the following year or two.

I really really hope so. It's a big step forward for him, that's for sure. And im just very very happy for him, about the happiest ive felt for a sportsman in a very long time I think.

Pretty much what I expected...Federer just didn't have anything left in the tank and was making lots of errors. He'll be pretty happy with a silver I think. If he hadn't already won an olympic gold I think he would have been able to get more up for it and make it a closer match. He's already got an olympic gold though, he's been on the top step, sung the anthem and while it wasn't in singles I think with tennis (in terms of motivation) it wouldn't really make much difference.

Murray has played great the whole tournament though and was really drawing on the support of the crowd...quite a different crowd to the typical, more reserved Wimbledon crowd. To beat Djokovic and Federer in convincing fashion to win the gold will give him a lot of confidence.

Still, it's not a slam. Best of 3 until the final, only 6 rounds. Not the same level of pressure. Will be very interesting to see how he goes in the US Open.

There didn't seem to be much wind or anything. Don't think the roof would have made any difference. I mean it doesn't change the way the surface plays! Murray was just able to peak at the right time this tournament and Federer couldn't. Was at another level.

you kidding me ! Post match interview said there was a heck of a lot of wind !but yeah, i think the outcome would have been the same, but I think Murray felt more comfortable with the open roof

So could these injuries be a sign of thngs to come as rafa ages? I watch enough tennis to know he gets injured fairly frequently, but has he been out this long before?

not sure about Rafa.

I've heard talk along the lines of how his style is hard on the body and so he won't last that long, and how his latest injury is a sign the end is near since 2006

And he always comes back and starts winning things first chance!

Possibly Djokovic - Federer final in Cincinnati.

Haven't seen the tennis there, but I think Djoko is a considerably better hard courter - thought getting past Del Potro is a harder task than the Warwrinka assignment Fed has

Fed's confidence is SUCH a key factor for him...
