Whoop!! So excited!

Was reading through some of the thread for the last World Cup on the old forum - the old arguments about Spain's style, debating Suarez's handball, good stuff.

In 19 days I'm in Rio as well!!

Don't follow soccer much, but I'm gonna follow the world cup. My German blood thinks I should root for Germany. Any great players from there? Also who are the other great players I should look out for in other countries? I watched clips of the guy who looks like Georgi, he was pretty good.

Mesut Özil, André Schürrle and Bastian Schweinsteiger are my favourites from the German team. As for players from other teams to look out for, there are just too many to pick. Eden Hazard (Belgium) is probably my favourite football player at the moment, though he seldom shows up for his national team. Hopefully he'll show some of his club form this World Cup.

rooting order:
1) USA -> Italy (b/c family) -> England (b/c I spent a few months there one time and people were generally decent)
2) continents: Africa -> Central America -> Asia -> South America -> Europe -> Australia (b/c lol)
3) countries I don't particularly care about that have won a World Cup before: Argentina -> France -> Spain -> Uruguay (I'm told their star player is basically the devil) -> Germany (b/c Hitler) -> Brazil (Yankees of soccer)

you're going to love watching Phillip lahm play.

rooting for the Dutch and my favorites there are arjen robben and robin van persie.

catch as many games as you can...Germany is going to be fun to watch, Argentina, chile, Uruguay, the Netherlands, brazil..all fun teams to watch.

I sadly see us going out during the quarter final to Germany. That team is too tough, and we face off against them pretty early if we win the group and so do they.
