What about the freak bail incident with Boucher!? Couldn't believe that.

Retires from international cricket with 999 dismissals!

Hopefully he can stay involved in cricket. Seems to me that he's qualified to be an umpire now.

On the England win. Well done. I suppose now that the British economy is rubbish and no one has jobs they have more time to practice cricket...whereas we're all slaving away in work and sponsorship commitments and have less time to practice. Obvious result when you think about it. But these things go in cycles. We got bored of being the best sports country in the world for so long, so we decided to become the best economy in the world. Now that we've done that we'll probably move onto something else, like becoming the fattest country in the world. Eventually it will swing back round to sport and we'll stop caring about things like jobs and food and get good at cricket agan.

we let england win because they are hosting the Olympics and it will make them all feel good leading into that. australia will start caring around ashes time next year, that's what is about, apparently australia are still no1 limited over side so not to worry.

Props to Amla, no water or anything in that innings of 311 since he was fasting. Immense achievement.

big innings amla and whilst fasting? :surprised: kallis is still amazing, proteas have ripped into the poms too.
on another note australia is now the sixth ranked t20 side in the world and england no1, something must be down about this farce.

there is strong reports that yohan blake will play for sydney sixes and usain Bolt for melbourne stars in this seasons 20/20 big bash league :surprised: . stuart clarke confirmed that they are in negotiations with blake who has apparently played for jamacia at some level and can bowl 140km's, Bolt has played as a teen but knowing him he'll go ok. running between wickets will be interesting and not to mention saving some fours in the outfield. obviously a novelty and revenue exercise but it will add some extra interest to the series.

What a brilliant series. By far the 2 best test sides in the world now.

Yo cricket niggas, quick question. How often is it the case that you have a really, really good bowler, but one that can't bat a lick? Would you say it's common for the best bowlers to also be poor batsmen? How would you feel if the International Cricket authority or whatever instituted a new rule that allowed these bowlers- again, specialist types- to be replaced by someone who did nothing- didn't field, didn't bowl- but bat? Does this question make sense? If you're at all familiar with baseball, I'm basically just wondering how you would feel if the designated hitter rule was instituted in cricket, in some form.

Bowlers are generally not great batsmen, though in my opinion the tail end has improved dramatically over my lifetime. The designated hitter would absolutely, positively not work in cricket (especially test match cricket). I could see them introducing it somewhere in the future for 20/20 cricket (the short form of the game and somewhat of a novelty) but I'd be totally against it as a cricket fan and considering I'm one of the younger fans here I'd imagine everyone else would be too.
