recently i found out on facebook that my friend from high school who graduated the same year as me was picked in the last round of the draft by the twins. i was really surprised. i didn't even know he had a scholarship to play in college. and out of all of the athletes i knew in high school it's shocking he's the only one i'm aware of who's been selected in a professional draft, because we had some really good football players, soccer players, and some other baseball players who played at UT, and i just never realized he was that good i guess, because he never really hung out with the "best athletes" clique in high school. one of the football players is auburn's number one receiver so maybe he'll get drafted next year too. anyways, my friend just signed his minor league contract the other day. it's just really cool. i hope he makes it onto their roster eventually.

It's arbitrary but it's really no more arbitrary than the old way (NL gets odd years, AL gets even, or vice versa before the 1994 strike). Now if MLB wants to give homefield to the team with the best record I'm all for that.
