Got to watch the end of it, epic stuff. Great play by the third baseman to end it, and I've seen lots of replays of Blanco's amazing catch. I've always assumed right center in San Fran is really difficult to play, and Blanco made it look easy; mad range. Props to Cain, Posey and the Giants.

Other pitcher's lines from the evening:
RA Dickey - CG, 0ER, 1H, 12K, 0BB (under protest apparently)
Lance Lynn - 7.1, 0ER, 3H, 12K, 1BB

Hello my name is Matt Cain. You know I really want to get home and watch the premier of Dallas on my DVR before my bedtime so I'm going to go ahead and mow down the Astros so I can hit the showers, K?

A lot of good pitching last night. Rangers game the poor Arizona starter pitched a gem through 8 but go beaten by Craig Gentry (whose been on fire) and lost 1-0.

I'm guessing it's not over. Judging from his velocity drop I'd guess that he has arm damage somewhere. I'm surprised he hasn't landed on the DL, yet.

Definitely not. He might not ever be as dominant even as he was in 2010-11 let alone 2008-09, but his peripherals do not suggest someone who is useless. He should have a 4.00 ERA, not a 6.00.

Grimm looked good in his debut for the Rangers yesterday. Perhaps until Holland gets back and OSwalt is ready he can takeover for Feldman (whose an auto loss at this point).

Lincecum's walk rate right now is high enough that I don't know if I'd trust his xFIP to be an indicator of where he should be.

When Lincecum is pitching from his windup, he's actually just as effective as he's always been. Out of the stretch this year, however, he's been almost indescribably bad. I'd like to see him just forsake the stretch entirely for a start and see if that gets results.

ya but thing with it is that he never used to let as many people on base because he'd strike everyone out. now he's lost his velocity therefore not striking as many people out and theyre getting on base. hes probably always had a problem pitching from the stretch or at least hes not used to it as much as he could be. i dont think hes done but he definitely has to fix something.

his k rate is exactly where you'd expect it, and his swinging strike % is the best he's had since 2008. His issue is control -- he's walking tons of dudes and hitters are making much more solid contact with his pitches than they used to.

Lincecum has faced 351 batters this year, 162 of them with men on base (so, most likely, pitching out of the stretch). With the bases empty Lincecum has recorded 57 strikeouts against 16 walks (about a 3.5:1 ratio). With runners on, it's 26 strikeouts against 25 walks. With runners on he goes from the same old Lincecum to a pitcher who mostly deserves his awful ERA. It sure seems like the problem is his stretch delivery, and that he should shelve it (and swallow the attending rise in SBs) until he and Righetti can fix it in practice.
