Leading stoke in scoring is really no achievement. They haven't even scored 30 as a team and 8 isn't really impressive. It's like being the top marksman in an all blind infantry. I would never pay a transfer fee for crouch.

He's scored more goals this season than Berbatov, Suarez, Welbeck, Gerrard, Drogba, Agbonlahor, Walcott, Mata and Nani, amongst others. He's by no means a bad player.

alot of those guys have low scoring totals for various reasons. Berbatov is a backup, Suarez was suspended for a good bit, Gerrard has been injured most season etc

Crouch is certainly not a bad player. He's not a great goalscorer (I should know as a Spurs fan) but he's had decent spells of goalscoring in his career and he also links play very well. I remember the instant rapport he struck up with Rafa Van der Vaart.

Suarez's general goals p/game ratio since he came to England is actually surprisingly average for a player of his quality. But I think the general point is, if you can still score 8 goals a season then you're certainly still good enough to play in the Premiership so it shouldn't really be a surprise why he's still playing.

This doesn't sound good at all! Hope Petrov makes a full recovery!

I echo your thoughts, Nick. Get better soon, Stiliyan.

If you play Crouch or someone like Borriello week in and week out for 90 minutes they will eventually score a couple goals and maybe even 10-20 a season. They need to be served on a silver platter and create virtually nothing on their own. They aren't bad players by any means, but they are nothing more than mid table team strikers.

I'm with Pink here. Crouch's goal tally this year is pretty unremarkable. It's about the level I'd expect from a player of his ability being played as the main striker in a team of Stoke's level. The comparison with the other players there doesn't really work, since you've got an assortment of largely benched strikers, playmakers and wingers in there.

Watching the footage of the ovation for Petrov really is heartbreaking. I'm really devastated for him.

It really was heartbreaking, Petrov must and his family must be going through hell at the moment, it is sad he has had to retire from football but his health has to come first. It has been an eventful season off the pitch with Petrov, Muamba and Speed, it makes you realise football although important, is not a matter of life and death as Bill Shankly once said.

Petrov, Ireland, Bent and sometimes Agbon are the only reasons to watch Aston villa. He was a real catalyst for those aston villa teams that broke the top 6. A real class player, too.

Fuck you, Arsenal for making me feel like things are possible in life. Qpr. God dammit, who are we, Liverpool?!

I know i know. Its just a pity, thats all. You guys will pass us, too. You have a much easier schedule from here on out, and only 1 goal behind

:eh: So you just had in mind passing us in the league table? I'm quite surprised how parochial Arsenal fans have become.
