That was intense. I breathed such a sigh of relief when Drogba netted that last penalty. If Chelsea don't renew his contract they're idiots.

then back to a boring ass one, then back to a great one. at least drama-wise. 95% of extra time was a snoozer, even provided me with adequate time to change and fold some laundry. on top of fatigue and injury (and poor timed substitutions for Munich) no doubt setting in, both teams seemed content with being as creative as a melting ice cube, sorta going through the motions til penalties. i understand that a Champion needs to be crowned at the end of the day, i just feel like a golden goal format would be >>>> extra time+pks.

regardless, congrats to Chelsea. Drogba was real hero in the end, credit to Chelsea's defense for not breaking and doing just enough to bother Bayern's frequent finishing attempts, and props to Cech for coming up really big a few times. Too bad Ribery and Robben's efforts went for nothing.

Damn, I love Drogba. It's rare to see a player possess such phenomenal power but also be so incredibly gifted technically. His penalty was fantastic, under enormous pressure, knowing that if he scores Chelsea win their first European Cup andwith 300 million people watching, he waits for the goalkeeper to dive one way before casually strolling his penalty in the opposite direction. Too cool.

Almost had me in tears.

While he's obviously still a player that has much to offer Chelsea, especially in big game situations, I can't think of a better way for someone to leave a club. The memory of the header and the final penalty will be engrained in my mind for the rest of my life giving me possibly my favourite sporting memory to date.
