Now that I got that big rant out of the way I went ahead and voted "hot". I still consider it a very good movie, when putting it's undeserved sacred cow status aside.

I voted Hot but not in the same way fanboys do..as in i don't think it's the pinnacle of comic book adaptations that can't be touched or questioned for it's shortcomings! it's a 7.5/10.

Then brace yourself for the next one. I think it might just get worse. Imagine if Tom Hardy dies just before the release or something... The horror...

Its origins are dark.

Given how deathly seriously the movie takes itself though it hardly can escape on the fun defense. I like the Burton Batman's better precisely for that reason.

The Dark Knight is too grim, too self-serious, and does have a weak third act (although the Two Face stuff is the best part of the movie).

What do you think are the most glaring plot holes?

To be perfectly honest, I actually enjoyed Iron Man more than The Dark Knight.

Burton's Batman has it's flaws (rubber bat nipples)

That wasn't Burton. That was Schumacher.

I'll also add that I think Michael Keaton gives by far the best performance as Bruce Wayne (particularly in the original Batman).

Absolutely. No one else comes close. And I was very against his casting when I first heard about it. All I could think of was Beetlejuice and Mr. Mom.

Just the way people behave so stupidly in the movie if they aren't the Joker. The car chase scene itself is gigantically implausible. Even more so is smuggling enough explosives into a packed hospital to blow it up and smuggling explosives onto ferry's when you've got the whole city on lockdown. The Two Face stuff is the best part which is why it's a total shame that the ending both rushed that and didn't put it in another movie and simultaneously managed to drag on and be rather dull.

I should clarify when I say fun it should have embraced the inherent underlying current that Burton managed to tap into. That's what the Batman Animated Series did really well too.

I'd say very good for genre and good movie overall. But I'd take the Avengers over it.
